City of Colton <br />LEGAL ASSISTANT <br />Page two <br />DESIRABLE OUALIFICATIONS• <br />Knowledge of: <br />Principles, concepts and methodology of legal research. <br />Discovery and fact investigation. <br />Principles of legal writing and the legal process. <br />Computerized information retrieval systems and research systems. <br />Good organizational skills. <br />Computer applications: Windows, WordPerfect, and Word. <br />ili <br />Perform legal research. <br />Understand and analyze legal issues. <br />Write clearly and concisely. <br />Adhere to necessary deadlines and statutes of limitations. <br />MINIMUM REOUIREMENTS: <br />Experience: <br />A minimum of four years experience in a law office or legal setting, including <br />administrative or management experience with significant exposure to legal <br />issues. Experience with a public agency dealing with labor relations, public <br />contracting, environmental issues, elections issues and land use matters is highly <br />desirable. <br />Education7 <br />Two year degree in Administration of Justice, Business, Public Administration or <br />a related subject and possession of a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved <br />school are desirable. <br />LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: <br />Possession of valid Class C California driver's license. <br />Approved by Council: <br />59 <br />
