CITY OF COLTON <br />INTERMEDIATE TYPIST CLERK <br />DEFINITION: <br />Under supervision, to do a wide variety of clerical and typing work of average difficulty; and to do <br />other related work as required. <br />CLASS CHARACTERISTICS: <br />Positions in this class are filled by advancement from the lower level class of Junior Typist clerk, or <br />when filled from the outside require prior clerical experience. An Intermediate Typist Clerk works <br />under supervision and within a framework of established procedures, and is expected to perform a <br />wide variety of duties with only occasional instruction or assistance. Performance requires a <br />knowledge of departmental procedures and the ability to choose among a limited number of <br />alternatives in solving routine problems. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />Types. <br />Looks up information for department or public use. <br />Complies, tabulates, check, and types statistical data. <br />Maintains various files. <br />Posts a variety of information to various types of control records. <br />Types purchase orders. <br />Checks invoices against purchase orders. <br />Answers telephones. <br />Receives the public and handles routine business or refers to appropriate person. <br />Answers inquires from the public regarding routine procedures. <br />Operates office machines such as postage meter, adding machines and copying machines. <br />Operates a small switchboard. <br />Transcribes police reports from transcriber. <br />Operates radio teletype machine. -.� <br />
