R-110-96 <br />F1 <br />5 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON PLACING THE <br />6 QUESTION OF TERM LIMITS FOR THE MAYOR AND <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE BALLOT AT <br />7 THE REGULAR ELECTION TO BE HELD ON <br />8 '1997 <br />9 <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 36502 provides that the City Council may <br />10 <br />propose a measure limiting the terms of office of the Mayor and members of the City Council <br />11 <br />1211 for consideration by the people at an election called for that purpose; and <br />1311 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton has determined that it is in the best <br />1411 interests of the people of Colton that limits be imposed on the number of consecutive terms <br />1511 office that may be held by the Mayor and members of the City Council; and <br />17 WHEREAS, in order to place the question of limiting the terms of office of the Mayor <br />and members of the City Council before the electorate it is necessary to adopt a resolution <br />18 <br />1911 placing that matter on the ballot. <br />20 <br />2111 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON HEREBY <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />23 <br />2511 As required by the provisions of Section 36501 of California Government Code the <br />2611 following question shall be submitted to the voters of the City of Colton at the regular election <br />2711 to be held on 1997: <br />?ZV <br />
