1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />ORDINANCE NO. 0-28-96 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON ADDING SECTION 2.04.020 TO CHAPTER 2.04 OF THE <br />COLTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO LIMITATIONS ON <br />THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF THE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL <br />THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF COLTON ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1: Section 2.04.020 is hereby added to Chapter 2.04 of the Colton Municipal <br />Code to read in its entirety as follows: <br />12 "2.04.020 Term Limits. <br />13 A. In accord with the provisions of California Government Code Section <br />14 36502(b), the Mayor and members of the City Council shall be ineligible to rum <br />15 for re-election to any position on the City Council after having served as either <br />16 <br />17 Mayor or City Councilmember or any combination thereof for two full <br />18 consecutive four-year terms of office following the effective date of this chapter. <br />19 B. Any individual made ineligible to run for an hold office pursuant to the <br />20 provisions of this section shall become eligible to run for and hold that office <br />21 again after a period of two years following his or her second consecutive four - <br />22 year term of office as a member of the City Council." <br />23 <br />24 SECTION 2: If any provisions of this Ordinance or application thereof to any person <br />25 or circumstances is held invalid, this invalidity shall not affect other applications of this <br />26 Ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or applications, and to this <br />27 <br />
