AGENDA REPORT For the Council Meeting September 17, 1996 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL APPROVAL: MALIK D. FREEMAN, INTERIM CITY MANAGER FROM: THOMAS K. CLARKE, INTERIM WATER & WASTEWATER DIRECTOR SUBJECT: FINAL ACCEPTANCE OF THE ENCANTO COURT WATER LINE REPLACEMENT PROJECT AS 100% COMPLETE, AND AUTHORIZE THE INTERIM WATER AND WASTEWATER DIRECTOR TO ISSUE THE NOTICE OF COMPLETION DATE: SEPTEMBER 9, 1996 BACKGROUND: On December 22, 1993 Council approved emergency Resolution No. R-124-93 awarding a contract to Larry Jacinto Construction in the amount of $37,981 for slope reconstruction on Encanto Court as a result of a water main break. Also included in the award was a professional services contract to CHJ, Inc. for geotechnical and compaction testing in the amount of $8,270. At the January 16, 1996 Council meeting, a change order was approved in the amount of $34,154.36 for the extra negotiated work, which changed the scope of work approved in the emergency Resolution. During the reconstruction period, the Interim Water and Wastewater Director determined that the other 8" water main should also be replaced, rather than abandoned. At the May 21, 1996, the Council approved the additional cost to replace the water main in the amount of $6,473.24. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: All work has been completed, and the contractor has requested final acceptance of the project, and filing of the notice of completion. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None, the funds for the project have already been approved by Council and encumbered in FY95-96. Thomas K.
