HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DECTOR��/" <br />SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION FOR SELECTION OF CONTRACTOR <br />FOR THE 1996 -1997 STREET PAVING PROGRAM. <br />DATE: <br />BACKGROUND: <br />SEPEMBER 9, 1996 <br />At the Council Meeting of January 24, 1996 funds in the amount of $976,983 were <br />allocated and approved for the 1996 -1997 Street Paving Program. This is a multiple <br />funded program consisting of Gas Tax, Host City Fees, Measure I and Capital <br />Improvement funds. The Project scope of work consists of street pavement overlay to <br />various city wide streets. <br />On September 3, 1996 bids were formally opened by staff. <br />SUMMARY: <br />The results of the bids are as follows: <br />• Matich Corporation $ 862,086.20 <br />• Vance Corporation $1,088,803.60 <br />• Laird Construction $1,061,858.04 <br />• All America Asphalt $ 998.751.30 <br />The apparent low bidder is Matich Corporation of Colton, California in the amount of <br />$862,086.20. The bid package has been reviewed by staff for accuracy and found to <br />be within acceptable limits as defined by the Instructions to Bidders located within the <br />Contract Documents and Specifications. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />A funding appropriation has been established and approved by Council in the amount <br />of $976,983 on January 24, 1996. The Engineer's cost estimate is $879,476.00 <br />ENVIRONMENTAL: <br />None <br />ITEM NO. 31 <br />
