R-0096 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON PLACING THE <br />QUESTION OF TERM LD41TS FOR THE MAYOR AND <br />MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL ON THE BALLOT AT <br />THE REGULAR ELECTION TO BE HELD ON <br />, 1997 <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 36502 provides that the City Council may <br />propose a measure limiting the terms of office of the Mayor and members of the City Council <br />for consideration by the people at an election called for that purpose; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton has determined that it is in the best <br />interests of the people of Colton that limits be imposed on the number of consecutive terms <br />office that may be held by the Mayor and members of the City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to place the question of limiting the terms of office of the Mayor <br />and members of the City Council before the electorate it is necessary to adopt a resolution <br />placing that matter on the ballot. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON HEREBY <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />As required by the provisions of Section 36501 of California Government Code the <br />following question shall be submitted to the voters of the City of Colton at the regular election <br />to be held on 1997: <br />
