Webber <br />PAGES 3 <br />Dear Giirol: <br />In the hope that you do not have to go through the formal bid process, DMC is pleased to provide the <br />following quotation to the City of Colton. <br />Based on our earlier discussions, I have quoted the stand-alone system shown below: <br />ZS; <br />Figure 1: Stand -Alone Syste"M" <br />The stand-alone system configuration (see Figure 1) Consists of a PC host, a scanner, an optical disk <br />drive and a laser printer. This system will allow you to scan, OCR, index and store some 100o-2,000 <br />pages per day. Images containing text will be optically , <br />-recognized to acquire ASCII files; graphical <br />documents may be annotated from a keyboard to define their contants, i.e, document type, title, author, <br />keywords, Or 'whatever other information is required for search and retrieval. Text files created through <br />OCR or image annotation, as yell as those imported from text editors and other applications, will be <br />indented into two databases automatically. Bibliographic information for each document will be st <br />iored <br />into a pseudo relational database, and words, codes and numbers into a full text database. At this point <br />in time, the system will be ready for search and retrieval.
