CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 19, 1997 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />APPROVAL: L od, kda er <br />FROM: a <br />Community Dev opine Director <br />SUBJECT: Annexation South 44 (proposed improvements) <br />DATE: August 11, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On July 31, 1997, a meeting was held between representatives from the Cities of <br />Colton and Riverside (attendance list attached). The meeting was held to <br />discuss the possible development of approximately 320 acres of land located <br />within the area known as Annexation South 44, which totals 1,020 acres. The <br />area is generally located just east of Riverside Avenue, south of the Santa Ana <br />Rivera <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Representatives from the City of Riverside requested that the City of Colton <br />consider the sharing of sales tax, on a 50/50 percent basis, generated from the <br />future development of the area in question. In return, Riverside would provide <br />sewer access to existing and future development. <br />Additionally, the City of Riverside proposed the creation of a Specific Plan and a <br />Development Agreement of approximately 220 acres for the City of Colton's <br />consideration and review. <br />The City of Riverside has requested a response from staff. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Council may choose not to respond to the City of Riverside's request, or may <br />choose to direct staff to obtain additional information from Riverside regarding <br />their proposal <br />Item No. 26 <br />
