t
CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For the Council Meeting of December 2, 1997
TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
APPROVAL: LEN WOOD, INTERIM CITY MANAGER ,
FROM: THOMAS K. CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR—%'—
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,925
TO EL -CO CONTRACTORS, INC., FOR THE RECHE CANYON RD.
WATER LINE RELOCATION PROJECT
DATE: NOVEMBER 12, 1997
BACKGROUND:
On July 15, 1997 Council awarded a contract in the amount of $69,267.10 to EI -Co
Contractors, Inc., for the water line relocation project in Reche Canyon Road, which
was required by the County of San Bernardino in order to widen the street.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
A change order in the amount of $6,635 for adding a 4 high pressure hot tap was
approved by the Utility Director. However, an additional change order is needed for
raising three manholes along with traffic control during the work. At the time the bid
specifications were prepared, staff did not believe the three manholes would be
effected by the work. Therefore, the raising of the manholes was not included in the
bid specifications. -
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The FY97-98 Water Capital Improvement Budget included the carry over of funds
allocated for water line improvements in FY96-97. Sufficient funds are available in the
Water Line Replacement account number 521-8100-8106-3890 for the change order.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council approve the change order to EI -Co Contractors, Inc., in
the amount of $2,925 for the Reche Canyon Rd. water line relocation project.
Report Prepared By: Lorraine June
Item # 11
