<br />Where Stats.1883, p. 265, c. 49, § 855
<br />(repealed; see, now, § 36501 et seq.),
<br />provided that in. cities of the sixth class
<br />the trustees were to choose one of their
<br />number president; § 575 (repealed; see,
<br />now, §§ 36802 to 3GSO4, 40601 to 40604),
<br />declared that such president should pre-
<br />side over meetings of the board, and
<br />should sign warrants drawn, written con-
<br />tracts, and conveyances made by the city
<br />or town: and § 563 (repealed) declared
<br />that every ordinance should be signers by
<br />§ 40602. Signature

<br />sixth class was the "executive" of the
<br />city, within Stats.1901, p. 27, c. 32, § 2
<br />(repealed; see, now, § 43601 et seq.),
<br />which provided that resolutions of neces-
<br />sity for public improvements involving
<br />thv creation of municipal indebtedness,
<br />and the ordinance calling a special election
<br />to obtain the consent of the voters, should
<br />be "approved by the executive" of the

<br />The mayor shall sign:
<br />(a) All warrants drawn on the city treasurer.
<br />(b) All written contracts and conveyances made or entered into
<br />by the city.
<br />(c) All instruments requiring the city seal.
<br />The legislative body may provide by ordinance that the instru-
<br />ments described in (a), (b) and (c) be signed by an officer other
<br />than the mayor.
