--city Council Meeting of February 18, 1997 <br />CDBG Projects 1997-98 <br />Page 2 <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />The City's failure to select and prioritize projects to be funded by the CDBG Program <br />will negate the use of federal funds for Public Service Programs and Capital <br />Improvements for low and moderate income residents. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />All CDBG Projects are funded in whole or in part with federal funds from HUD, through <br />the County ECD Department., Colton's CDBG Entitlement Allocation for Fiscal Year <br />1997-98 is $368,000. The City may off -set some project costs by utilizing funds from <br />other federal sources, i.e., Intermodel Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA),'or <br />City general funds. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />All CDBG projects approved for funding will require an Environmental Assessment prior <br />to implementation. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Taking into consideration the amount of CDBG Entitlement Funds available, and in <br />review of the proposed projects submitted for funding consideration, Staff recommends <br />that City Council, after allowing public input, select and prioritize projects to be funded <br />from the City of Colton's Fiscal Year 1997-98 Community Development Block Grant <br />Entitlement Allocation, and adopt the attached Resolution, Number-� 4',Vwhich <br />contains the list of approved projects. <br />DRZ/ALS/kd <br />Attachments: Attachment A - Eligible Project Proposals <br />Letter from County dated January 31, 1997 <br />Resolution <br />
