FREEMAN, CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: ANNA A. VEGA, FINANCE DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR ONE TRAILER MOUNTED DIESEL EMERGENCY GENERATOR <br />FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ENGINE & EQUIPMENT CO. IN THE AMOUNT OF <br />$30,151.72 <br />DATE: DECEMBER 19, 1996 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City Council approved an emergency generator in the Fire Department's FY96-97budget. This <br />generator will be used to power the EOC (emergency operations command) located at Fire Station #3, in <br />the event of power failure due to an emergency. The generator is mounted on a trailer, so it can be <br />moved in the event that the EOC would need to be relocated and will also be available for any other <br />emergency which may occur in the City. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />On December 5, 1996, Purchasing solicited sealed bids for this generator. Bid opening was held at 3:30 <br />p.m., December 19, 1996, in the Purchasing office. Four bids were received and evaluated. A Bid <br />Analysis is attached showing the price and delivery time quoted by each vendor. The recommended <br />vendor's price is underlined. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The funds were approved in the FY96-97 budget and are available in account 100-6090-6094-4930 <br />Tom Hendrix, Acting Fire Chief <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the Council award the bid for this generator to Engine & Equipment Co. in the amount <br />of $30,151.72 <br />Report prepared by Mary J.
