LEGAL ASSISTANT/CONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR <br />Page 2 <br />• Prepare reports relative to contract status, cost analysis and assist in LLMD zone and annual <br />benefit assessments and contract compliance. <br />• Monitor franchise payments, review and monitor audits of gross receipts calculations. <br />• Conduct preliminary negotiations with contractors regarding contract renewals. <br />• Perform general clerical duties, as directed. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, bending, <br />kneeling, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. This position also <br />requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports and data <br />using a computer keyboard. Additionally the position requires near vision in reading <br />correspondence, statistical data and using a computer; acute hearing is required when providing <br />phone service and communicating in person. The need to lift, drag, and push files, computer <br />reports and other materials weighing up to 25 pounds is also required. <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and/or Experience: <br />A combination of education and knowledge that has provided the knowledge, skills and <br />abilities necessary for a Legal Assistant/Contract Administrator. A typical way of <br />obtaining the required qualifications is to possess a minimum of four years experience in <br />a law office or legal setting with a public agency or experience in dealing with labor <br />relations, public contracting, environmental issues, elections issues and land use matters <br />is highly desirable, as well as at least two years of professional experience supervising, <br />administering, negotiating or managing contracts between municipalities and/or other <br />government agencies and private contractors, franchisees and/or other providers of <br />services to governmental agencies. Experience in managing municipal solid waste <br />contracts and franchise agreements preferred. Experience in the administration of <br />franchise agreements, municipal service contracts and Lighting and Landscaping <br />Maintenance Districts a plus, along with a two year degree in Administration of Justice or <br />a related subject and possession of a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved school <br />and/or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public <br />administration, business administration or a closely related field. A Master's degree is <br />desirable. <br />License/Certificate: <br />Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver's license. <br />KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: <br />Knowledge of - <br />Principles, concepts and methodology of legal research. <br />Discovery and fact investigation. <br />Principles of legal writing and the legal process. <br />Computerized information retrieval systems and research systems. <br />Good organizational skills. <br />\pershare\jobs\LEGASST.DOC <br />
