HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTO <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST AUTHORIZATION TO SOLICIT BIDS FOR THE <br />CITY WIDE SIGNAL MAINTENANCE FISCAL YEAR <br />1997/1998 CONTRACT. <br />DATE: MAY 2'7, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The City currently has approximately 34 signalized intersections that must be maintained and <br />repaired for Public Safety. These signals are currently being serviced by Peek Traffic, which is <br />a private sector Signal Maintenance Company. <br />SUMMARY: <br />The current signal maintenance contract is expiring and staff must solicit Public Bids for the <br />new signal maintenance contract. This proposed service agreement would be set up in a <br />similar fashion as the previous contract with a one year extension added, to be implemented at <br />the discretion of the Public Works Director. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The budget appropriation for the new service contract is proposed under the Electric <br />Enterprise Street Lighting / Traffic Signal funding Account 520-8000-8011-2460-0000-000 in <br />the amount of approximately $45,000. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council approve and authorize staff to proceed in soliciting bids for <br />the City wide Service Maintenance Signal Contract for Fiscal Year 1997/1998. <br />Report prepared by James R.
