Solid Waste Management Committee: The rim oal of the Solid. Waste Management Committee is to evaluate and make recommendation regarding the City's waste management projects, management practices, and proposals and services. Mission Statement: Provide recommendations to City Council regarding existing waste management practices. Goals and Objectives: I. Review contracts enacted in order to identify items which appear to be in conflict with requirements of the proposed legislative changes to the extent necessary. 2. Identify provisions of the contract(s) for which implementing legislation has not yet been enacted and propose legislation to the extent necessary. 3. Review the repeated and particular concerns that have been raised with respect to damages, liability, contract compliance, contract non-compliance. 4. Review the effectiveness of contract(s) that are pending. 5. Review existing waste hauling contracts to determine compliance and corrective action plans and/or enforcement provisions. 6. Examine merits of expanding the existing landfill operation. RECOMMENDATION Recommend the Solid Waste Management Committee consist of seven (7) members with Councilmember David Sandoval serving as one of the seven members, as follows: • 1 Colton Councilmember • 1 San Bernardino County Representative • 1 Taormina Industries Representative • 2 Colton Business.
