CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of March 4, 1997 <br />F <br />HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />AL: Malik Dantala Freeman, City Manager ' m r, - <br />Gracie Fernandez Harmon, Personnel Director <br />: Set Salary Range for the Full -Time Position of Assistant to the Public <br />Works Director <br />DATE: February 20, 1997 <br />■ <br />J <br />BACKGROUND: On Tuesday, February 18, 1997, as part of the Mid -Year Budget Review, <br />the City Council approved the reclassification of the position of Street Superintendent to <br />Assistant to the Public Works Director. The attached salary resolution sets the salary range for <br />the Assistant to the Public Works Director as approved on February 18, 1997. <br />DISCUSSIONIANALYSIS: The new position of Assistant to the Public Works Director will be <br />in the Administration & Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. The Street <br />Superintendent position in the Street Division will be eliminated. The reclassification results in <br />an additional cost of $21,507 in the Administration & Engineering Division; and a reduction of <br />$19,573 in the Street Division. These amounts have been allocated as part of the Mid -Year <br />Budget Review. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the attached resolution setting the basic <br />compensation rate for the position of Assistant to the Public Works Director., <br />ghdata/ag=WAsst Dir Pw.doc <br />Item No. 5 <br />
