VEGA, FINANCE DIRECTOF(:),�� <br />SUBJECT: <br />AWARD OF BID FOR AN ANNUAL WEED ABATEMENT CONTRACT TO DARELL W. <br />BARBARICK IN AN ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $40,000. <br />DATE: <br />FEBRUARY 24, 9997 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Fire Department administers a weed abatement program to help prevent brush fire hazards on private <br />property. The property owners are notified that their property must be abated of weeds by a certain date <br />and if the property owner fails to comply, the City's weed abatement contractor will accomplish the work, <br />The property owner will then be assessed on their next property tax bill. <br />DISCUSS ONIAN <br />ALYSIS <br />On January 28, 1 1 997, Purchasing solicited for sealed bids for an annual weed abatement contract. Bid <br />opening was held at 2:30 p.m., February 10, 1997, in the Purchasing office. Two bids were received and <br />evaluated. A Bid Analysis is attached showing the prices quoted by each bidder. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />The Fire Department budgeted $40,000 for this expense in their weed abatement professional services <br />account number 100-6090-6093-2350.
