HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />RESPONSE TO COUNCILVI/OIVIAN B�NN�T'S ( QUIf�Y TO <br />RECHE CANYON ROAD ALIGNMENT AND DRA(NAGE <br />PROJECTS <br />FEBRUARY 24, 1997 <br />Please be advised that the City is continuing with the design process and request for <br />funding forthe above subject projects. <br />Talcing into consideration that the subject projects are of multi distcict nature wt�ich <br />requires the funding participation by the San Bernard�no County and the City ofi Loma <br />Linda, as was prescribed under and as a part of the Reche Can:yon specific plan jointiy <br />prepared by agreement of the 3 agencies involved (i.e. Colton, Loma Linda and San <br />Bernardino County). <br />The rnajor expense with tfie projects will be directly related to acquiring the necessary <br />right of way needed for the improvements outlined within the specific plan. San <br />8ernardino County has aduised us most recenfiy that they intend ta con�inue with the <br />final solution and study report for the entire Reche Canyon Drainage area bf which their <br />fiood control division wi11 act as the lead agency. Additionally, recent correspondence <br />has indicated that the County of San Bernardino has scheduled a time (ine fior certain <br />interim road improvements wi#hin #h�ir jurisdictional area. The ouerall Reche Canyon <br />project impr�vement funding was and still is on the Regional Transportation Plan, <br />(RTIP) of which San Bernardino County has indicated their support for their portion <br />placing it on the RTIP also, but until #he funding is approved for bath City and County <br />areas, phasing th� constructiDn improvemsnts can not be a solution. <br />Tfie City of �olton as of most recently completed renovation/repaving projects within <br />their portion of the Reche Ganyon area, and as soon as we or the County of San <br />Bernardino hear of any notification for funding the entire project, we will immediatety <br />apprise the entire City CounciL <br />Item No. 15 <br />
