CITY OF COLTON.
AGENDA REPORT
FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF FEBRUARY 18,1991
SUBJECT: REPORT ON WATER PRESSURE SITUATION IN RECHE CANYON
Alternative No. 2
The City would install the pressure regulators in the water meter box. This would require the installation of a
larger water meter box, the removal and replacement of sidewalks and the re- plumbing of the customer
service in -order to accommodate the larger water meter box. In addition, there would be extensive work and
restoration around sidewalks adding to the cost of this alternative. We estimate each service to cost
approximately $450,
Alternative No. 3
The City would install pressure regulators on water mains. This option is very expensive, and would require
a modification of the Water Master Plan. This alternative would impact fire flows and pressures in adjacent
zones. The total cost is difficult to estimate without an in-depth engineering study. Our best guess at this
time would be in excess of $150,000.
RECOMMENDATION:
There is no staff recommendation, since the problem exists on the customer side of the water meter.
Attachment: Resolution No. 3805 - Customer Service Policy Water Rule No. 11
Cc: Mayor and Council
City Manager
Assistant City Manager
City Attorney
Item No.
