F <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />FIRE CAPTAIN <br />PAGE 3 <br />• Conduct preliminary fact finding inspections and investigations, including evidence gathering and <br />presentation. <br />• Operate apparatus and equipment used in modern firefighting activities. <br />• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with superiors, peers and subordinates. <br />Experience and Training <br />• Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge <br />and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience: <br />• Five years of municipal fire suppression experience including certification as Fire <br />Engineer. <br />Training: <br />• High School diploma or equivalent; and <br />• Successful completion of either the eight course requirements for State of California Fire <br />Officer Certification or the five required core classes for an A.S. degree in Fire <br />Technology. <br />License or Certificate <br />• Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver's license; and <br />• Possession of an appropriate, valid EMT and CPR certification. <br />Approved By Council: July 18,1995 <br />c Aword\j obs\FIRECAPT.DOC <br />
