CITY OF COLTON <br />MAINTENANCE ELECTRICIAN <br />DEFINITION: <br />Perform skilled electrical work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of <br />electrical systems, equipment and fixtures. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: <br />Under the general supervision of the Substation Superintendent. May receive technical <br />and functional supervision from the Substation Operations Supervisor. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />Install conduits, wires, relays, pull boxes, switch boards, and switches required in making <br />additions, extensions or alterations in electrical systems. <br />Repair and replace defective parts in motors, air conditioners, generators, pumps, relays, <br />storage batteries, switch boards, controllers, switches and other fixtures and appliances. <br />Install and maintain water production and distribution control and measuring devices. <br />Test, locate and repair defects in electrical circuits or equipment. <br />Assist in the installation and modification of communication and computer equipment. <br />Assist in general maintenance activities. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Knowledge of: <br />Standard practices, materials, tools and equipment of the electrical maintenance <br />trade. <br />Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions of the trade. <br />Applicable electrical codes. <br />Ability to: <br />Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. <br />
