CITY OF COLTON <br />EQUIPMENT MECHANIC <br />DEFINITION• <br />To perform skilled work in repairing, overhauling, and maintaining some of the City's power <br />driven and mechanical equipment, and does other related work as required. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />Perform journeyman work involved in the overhaul and repair of vehicles including engines, <br />transmissions and other complex assemblies. <br />Inspect motorized and mechanical equipment. <br />Diagnose trouble. <br />Disassemble, adjust, replace parts and reassemble engines, transmissions, differentials and clutches. <br />Tune up engines. <br />Install new or rebuilt engines. <br />Replace fits and adjust pistons, rings and bearings. <br />Replace rods and gears. <br />Clean, repair and replace carburetors, fuel pumps, strainers, fuel lines, gasoline tanks and gauges. <br />Wire and recondition electrical systems. <br />Adjust spark plugs. <br />Test and repair starters and magnetos, recharge batteries. <br />Repair and replace such other components as generators, distributors, relays, lights and switches. <br />Reline and adjust brakes. <br />Overhaul hydraulic, booster and vacuum systems. <br />Repair radiators, water pumps and hoses. <br />Replace water jacket plates and fans. <br />Install axles. <br />Align wheels. <br />
