4 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of May 20, 1997 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: Malik Dantala Freeman, City Manager <br />FROM: Gracie Fernandez Harmon, Personnel Director <br />SUBJECT: Ratification of Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Colton <br />and SBPEA, Management/Confidential Unit <br />DATE: May 15, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: The memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the <br />Management/Confidential Unit expired on June 30, 1996. Representatives of the City and <br />SBPEA have been negotiating for a successor MOU for approximately 12 months. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Representatives of the City and SBPEA reached a tentative <br />agreement with a term to June 30, 1998. This successor MOU is basically a "status quo" MOU <br />with reopeners to discuss pick up of the July 1998 PERS increase for the 2% @ 55 full and <br />modified formula, i and implementation of the compensation study to be completed late in June. <br />Attached are the changes within the tentative agreement; this language will be incorporated into a <br />comprehensive MOU. <br />Members of the bargaining unit met on Wednesday, May 14, 1997, and ratified the MOU. <br />m&c mou 1997.doc <br />No financial impact to the current fiscal year's budget. <br />That City Council ratify the tentative agreement with the <br />Unit and authorize staff to sign the comprehensive MOU on behalf <br />Item No. 7 <br />
