CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of May 20, 1997 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: Malik Dantala Freeman, City Managed ]� <br />FROM: Gracie Fernandez Harmon, Personnel Director <br />SUBJECT: Ratification of Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Colton <br />and IBEW, Local 47 <br />DATE: May 14, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: The memorandum of understanding (MOU) with IBEW, Local 47 expired <br />on June 30, 1996. Representatives of the City and IBEW have been negotiating for a successor <br />MOU for approximately 12 months. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Representatives of the City and IBEW reached a tentative <br />agreement with a term to June 30, 1998. This successor MOU is basically a "status quo" MOU <br />with reopeners to discuss pick up of the July 1998 PERS increase for the 2% @ 55 full and <br />modified formula, and implementation of the compensation study to be completed late in June. <br />Attached are the changes within the tentative agreement; this language will be incorporated into a <br />comprehensive MOU. <br />Members of the bargaining unit are scheduled to meet Tuesday, May 20, 1997 to vote on <br />ratification.of the MOU. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: No financial impact to the current fiscal year's budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council ratify the tentative agreement with IBEW, Local <br />47 and authorize staff to sign the comprehensive MOU on behalf of the City, <br />ibew mou 1997.doc <br />Item No. 8 <br />
