The preliminary cost estimate for construction is $271,000. Construction engineering and administration is estimated at $44.000. The total estimated Project cost is $358,000. City of Colton 96-97 Budget, on Page 114 under Capital Improvement Projects, list this project as an ISTEA/State TSM/Measure I project with funding of $400,999. State and Federal funding is assured by Caltrans/Colton Agreement and Program Supplement agreement identified as STPLNG-5065 (003) covering preliminary engineering, construction and construction engineering. This is a totally reimbursable project. The city must pay the invoices and submit reimbursable requests normally on a monthly basis during construction. Contract identifies 60 working days, from notice to praceed�to complete construction. Tun and I met with James King on May 1, 1997 and discussed moving forward on this project. Under the new Caltrans Re-engineering procedures when ready to move forward on this project, we must submit a Request for Authorization and receive Caltrans verification before we can advertise (need a 3 week advertising period minimum to bid opening also.) GTS is now preparing the RFA. You may want to get the City Council approval to advertise for bids, subject to receiving the RFA from Caltrans.
