CABRAL <br />DATE: OCTOBER 29,1997 <br />BACKGROUND: On September 15, 1997, Lieutenant Cabral was declared permanent and stationary by <br />Qualified Medical Examiner Stanley J. Majcher. Primary disabling condition is stress. Based on Dr. <br />Majcher's report, Lieutenant Cabral will be unable to return to his duties as a Police Lieutenant. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Under PERS law, the City Council or its designee makes the determination <br />as to when a safety employee is disabled and if the injury is industrial. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Advanced Disability Pension payments will be made in the amount of $2,094 <br />per month until, retirement benefits are directly received from CalPERS. The first payment for the period <br />October 30, 1997 through October 31, 1997 will be $135. Ca1PERS will reimburse the City for these <br />payments. <br />Bernar O.
