VEGA, FINANCE DIRECTOR QL­5­�. <br />SUBJECT: RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT TO THE FULL-TIME <br />POSITION OF SENIOR ACCOUNTANT. <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 11, 1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There is one (1) Senior Accountant position vacant in the Finance Department. Attached is the <br />job description for the classification; salary range is $2,934 - $3,565 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />An in-house, promotional recruitment for said position was conducted and an eligibility list was <br />established. The candidate being referred for Council ratification meets the education and <br />experience requirement as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding availability for this approved general fund position is in the fiscal year 1997-98 budget <br />funded in account no. 100-6040-6041-1010/1100 (salary/benefits). <br />Upon approval of this promotion, a division restructuring will be recommended to the City <br />Manager. This restructure will create a vacancy, which will not be filled. A portion of the <br />salary/benefit savings will be dedicated to a reclassification of another position creating efficiency <br />and continuity within the administrative staff. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />That the City Council ratify the employee appointment to the full-time position of Senior <br />Accountant. <br />_Reviewed by Personnel: <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />Item # 5 <br />
