EXHIBIT A CITY OF COLTON MEMORANDUM OF UNDERTANDING BY AND BETWEEN THE.COLTON POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION (RANK AND FILE UNIT) AND THE CITY OF COLTON This Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.) has been prepared pursuant to Government Code Sections 3500 through 3510 as amended, which is generally referred to as the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act. This Memorandum of Understanding is subject to the approval of the City Council of the City of Colton and ratification by the association and will be placed into effect upon the adoption of the necessary ordinances and resolutions by the City Council, if acceptable to them, in accordance with the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth. The parties agree that the provisions contained herein shall be subject to the applicable laws and covers the period of July 1, 1997, through June 30, 1998. I. RECOGNITION The City hereby recognizes the Colton Police Officers Association (Rank and File Unit) as the representative of employees in the following classifications: POLICE OFFICER (May be assigned as CORPORAL I.D. OFFICER DETECTIVE) POLICE SERGEANT POLICE OFFICER TRAINEE ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER COMMUNITY SERVICES OFFICER POLICE DISPATCHER I POLICE DISPATCHER II POLICE SENIOR OFFICER SPECIALIST .POLICE SERVICES CLERK I POLICE SERVICES CLERK II II. TERM OF AGREEMENT.- The agreement will last for a one year period beginning July 1, 1997 and ending midnight, June 30, 1998. SALARY: The City will provide to all unit employees a base salary increase of 4% effective retroactive to July 1, 1997.
