GARCIA, CITY MANAGE 0 <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR RECRUITMENT AND RATIFICATION OF <br />EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT IN THE PART TIME <br />POSITION OF OFFICE SPECIALIST H IN THE CITY <br />MANAGER'S OFFICE <br />DATE: APRIL 9, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND; There is one (1) vacant part-time position in the City Manager's <br />Office. Attached is the job description of the classification; the hourly rate of pay is $9.33 <br />to $11.34. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position will be conducted and an <br />eligibility list established upon Council approval. The candidate chosen will meet the <br />education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability for this approved general fund position <br />in the fiscal year `97/'98 budget funded as follows: Account No. 100-6020-6020-1010 <br />(salary), and Account No. 100-6020-6020-1100 (benefits). Because this is a part time <br />position, the only benefit related expense is Medicare. <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: June 15, 1998 <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: The City Manager's Office is staffed with <br />just one, full-time clerical position. A part time position is required to assure telephones <br />are answered in a timely manner as well as attending to walk-in customers. This position <br />is also needed to assist with payment of invoices, filing, CRS complaint procedure, mail, <br />and other related duties. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the recruitment and ratification <br />of the employee appointment to the part-time position of Office Specialist II as <br />recommended by the City Manager. <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />Item # 12 <br />
