HUTTON, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR APPROPRIATION OF ADDITIONAL FUNDS <br />FOR HERMOSA MEMORIAL GARDENS CEMETERY <br />DATE: APRIL 13, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Hermosa Memorial Gardens Cemetery has had an increase in the sale of adult lots, <br />interments, vaults, and liners. Unfortunately, with the increase in revenues, our <br />expenditures have also increased. The purchase of vaults and liners has already <br />exceeded the amount ($5,000) encumbered in a purchase order to Legrande Wilbert <br />Vault Company. Currently, we have one invoice outstanding ($1,020.00) and we will be <br />requiring additional orders of vaults and liners for the remainder of the Fiscal Year. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The impact would be the appropriation of an additional $5,000 to the Hermosa <br />Memorial Gardens Cemetery 1997-98 Budget. Account No. 524-8500-8500-2301 <br />Operating Supplies/Equipment;. Fortunately for the first time in many years the <br />Cemetery Fund revenues have exceeded their expenditures by approximately <br />$15,000.00 per the attached March '98 Revenue Status Report. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommend$ that City Council approve the appropriation of an additional $5,000 <br />to the Hermosa Memorial Gardens Cemetery for purchase of additional vaults and <br />liners for the remainder of 1997-98 Fiscal Year. <br />Item # 18 <br />
