r <br />1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />WHEREAS, eradication efforts by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Nature <br />Conservancy, the Resource Conservation Districts and others, have not been sufficient <br />due to the scope of the problem and lack of financial resources; and <br />WHEREAS, an invasive plant control program must be accomplished in the <br />short term if it is to be cost-effective, and will require a coordinated, area -wide, <br />aggressive, and systematic effort which will necessitate adequate financial support; and <br />WHEREAS, Congressman Ken Calvert is proposing legislation to establish <br />Federal funding, in the amount of $15 million, for the removal of Arundo and other <br />invasive plants from the Santa Ana River watershed. <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br />The City Council by this Resolution officially announces its support of the <br />proposed legislation by Congressman Ken Calvert to eradicate invasive plants from the <br />Santa Ana River watershed. <br />PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 21" day of April , 1997. <br />ATTEST: <br />Carolina P.
