CITY OF COTTON
AGENDA REPORT
For Council Meeting of January 13, 1998
TO:
Honorable Mayor and City Council
APPROVAL:
Len Wood, Interim City Manager
FROM:
John C. Hutton, Public Works Director L*lpe
SUI3JECT
Adopting Resolution Restricting Parking of Commercial
Vehicles Along the North And South Sides of Fairway Drive
DATE:
December 30, 1997
BACKGROUND:
Fairway Drive is a two-lane asphalt roadway. A single-family residential development
has recently been completed along this section of Fairway Drive. A number of large
commercial vehicles have been parking along this roadway near the new development.
DISCUSSION:
This issue was reviewed by the Traffic Safety Committee, as the trucks are creating a
sight distance problem for the motorists entering and exiting the new development and
the ,apartment complex to the west. Prohibiting parking of large trucks in this area will
allow a safer traffic flow in this area.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution authorizing the restriction
of parking commercial vehicles along the north and south sides of Fairway Drive
between Mt. Vernon Avenue and the Warm Creek Channel Overcrossing.
JCH,(BBlbjw
Attachments: Resolution
Page of _ h=# 10
