CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF July 21, 1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Cotwcil <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manag <br />FROM: Tom Hendrix, Acting Fire Chief <br />SUBJECT: Request for Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointment <br />To the Full Time Position of Administrative Secretary in the Fire <br />Department <br />DATE: July 9, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: Due to a medical retirement, there is one (1) vacant full time Administrative <br />Secretary position in the Fire Department. Attached is the job description of the classification with a <br />salary range of $2,183 - $2,623. <br />DISCUSSION / ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position was approved by the City Council at the <br />Council Meeting of July 7, 1998 for the vacant position in the Finance Department. The Fire <br />Department will use the established eligibility list in the recruitment for this position. The candidate <br />chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability for this approved position in the fiscal year <br />1998-99 budget is funded as follows: Account No. 100-6090-6091-1010 (salary) and Account <br />No. 100-6090-6091-1100 (benefits). <br />Tom Hendrix, Acting Fire Chief <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: To ensure quality customer services to our citizens and <br />the Fire Department's internal customers this position is critical to this department's functions. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends the City Council approves the recruitment and <br />ratification of the employee appointment to the full time position of Administrative Secretary as <br />recommended by the Fire Chief (Acting). <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />It= # 6 <br />
