V <br />le evOhts <br />Upcoming League conferences offer something for everyone. <br />Mark your calendarl <br />av <br />EXECUTIVE FORUM OFFERS <br />DIVERSE TOPICS <br />Strengthening city fiscal stability, Improving <br />council-manager relations and building <br />effective local partnerships are just three of <br />some 30 topics of Importance to mayors and <br />councilmembers at the Executive Forum, <br />July 22-24 In Monterey. Particular attention <br />will be given to the League's efforts to place a <br />constitutional amendment before voters regard- <br />ing local funding. <br />C11 anagers are specifically Invited to join <br />W acted officials at the forum and partici- <br />pate in the discussions on strengthening coun- <br />cil-manager relations. The forum will also have <br />sessions designed to orient newly elected <br />officials to the duties of their office, which will <br />-be an abbreviated version of the full Mayors <br />and Counclimembers Institute scheduled for <br />January 1999. <br />A number of forum 'sessions also will be part <br />of the League's Elected Officials Leadership <br />Academy, allowing mayors and council - <br />members to easily gain more credits toward <br />completing the academy program.
