i <br />ACCOUNTANT <br />Page 2 of 2 CITY OF COLTON <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, <br />bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also <br />requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports using a <br />computer key board. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written <br />reports and work related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and <br />counter service, <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and/or Experience• <br />Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and <br />abilities necessary for an Accountant. A typical way of obtaining the required <br />qualifications is to possess the equivalent of three years of directly related experience in <br />accounting, and a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. <br />License/Certificate: <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid, class C California driver's license. <br />KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: <br />Knowledge of - <br />Methods and techniques of general and municipal accounting, auditing and finance. <br />Procedures and techniques of payroll preparation and administration. <br />Laws regulating governmental financial reporting. <br />Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. <br />Modem office equipment including a computer and applicable software. <br />Methods and techniques for financial report preparation and writing. <br />Methods and techniques for record keeping. <br />Complex principles of mathematics and accounting. <br />Ahfl to: <br />Analyze and interpret payroll accounting records. <br />Prepare financial statements and reports. <br />Courteously respond to organizational issues, concerns and needs. <br />Analyze a complex issue and develop and implement an appropriate response. <br />Prepare Clear and concise financial reports. <br />To learn and operate financial reporting software: <br />Work independently. <br />Understand and follow instructions. <br />Establish and maintain effective working relationships. <br />Skill to.- <br />Operate an office computer. <br />Effectively operate a motor vehicle on City streets. <br />APPROVED BY COUNCIL: February 17,1995 <br />
