CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 169 1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manage 0 <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director ! <br />SUBJECT: Amended Ordinance to Amend the Agency's Contract to Provide <br />Section 21574 (4th Level of 1959 Survivor Benefits) for Local Fire <br />Members Only <br />DATE: June 9, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: Under current labor agreement with the local fire members, only, and their <br />labor representatives, the City has agreed to amend our PERS contract to provide Section 21547 <br />(Fourth Level of 1959 Survivor Benefits) for local fire members only. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: At the City Council meeting of May 5, 1998, Ordinance No. 0-8-98, <br />authorizing an amendment to the PERS contract for the Fourth Level of the 1959 Survivor Benefits <br />for local fire members only, was passed, approved and adopted. The effective date of the ordinance <br />reads May 5, 1998, also. We adopted the Resolution of Intention and had the first reading of the <br />ordinance on April 21, 1998. Pursuant to Government Code Section 21547, if the Resolution of <br />Intention was adopted on April 21, the earliest date we can pass the respective ordinance is twenty <br />days thereafter. <br />FINANCIAL 1 MIPACT: None <br />ENVIRONMENTAL EMIPACT: None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That the Mayor and City Council accept and approve the amended <br />ordinance and rescind Ordinance No. 0-8-98. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Ordinance and one (1) Amendment to Contract Between the Board of <br />Administration of PERS and the City Council of the City of Colton. <br />REPORT PREPARED BY: Terri Truitt <br />WDATA\AGENDA\AGENDATr DOC item # 24 <br />
