Page 2 <br />1997-98 Mid -Year Budget <br />The Future <br />City staff anxiously awaits future challenges, and recognizes that it is truly a <br />privilege to serve the City Council and the residents of this community. In the <br />months ahead it is our intention to move this organization forward with a newfound <br />spirit and energy embellished by the title of "Team Colton". As an integral part of <br />the Team Colton spirit, we will proceed vigorously with the following programs: <br />✓ Future Budgets will be Performance Based <br />✓ Zestfully Pursue Opportunities in Deregulated Electric Utility Markets <br />✓ Provide Capital Improvements to the Colton Waste Water System <br />✓ Provide Capital Improvements to the Colton Water System <br />✓ Implement an Aggressive Street Resurfacing Program <br />✓ Actively and Aggressive Pursue Revenue Enhancement Possibilities <br />✓ Build an Environment that is Business Friendly and Emphasizes Customer <br />Service <br />✓ Seek Out New Businesses and Work Hard to Retain Existing Businesses <br />✓ Recruit for Grant Administrator <br />Based on the City Council's leadership and direction we anticipate holding a series <br />of revenue workshops where ideas and options will be discussed to fund City <br />operations and programs for Fiscal year 1999/2000. Additionally, City Departments <br />will move forward in developing General Fund spending plans for Fiscal Year <br />1998/99 that are up to 3.5 percent below Fiscal Year 1997/98 levels. <br />Attached to this document are the necessary resolutions to implement the <br />adjustments therein. We look forward to implementing the aforementioned <br />programs commencing in fiscal year 1998-99. In addition, we look forward to <br />working with the City Council, City staff, and the resident's of the community by <br />bringing these and other programs into fruition as we implement this mid year <br />budget document as well as future financial plans. <br />Sincerely, <br />Hen arcia Anna A.
