Zamo <br />Community DetLo ent Director <br />SUBJECT: Approval and Authorization to Execute the Memorandum of <br />Understanding Between the City of Colton and Union Pacific <br />Railroad <br />DATE: <br />March 11, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As Council may recallat the November 18, 1997 meeting, Council considered and approved <br />, <br />an appeal submitted by Union Pacific Railroad, overturning a previous Planning Commission <br />decision to deny the vacation of the intersection of Sixth and K Streets. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The City has requested that certain grade crossing repair and removal work be accomplished <br />on the Southern Pacific San Bernardino and Riverside branches within the jurisdictional <br />s <br />more p <br />boundaries of the City of Colton, as part of the overall New Track Project. The cepa r wom of <br />articularly described in Exhibits "A" and B of the attached Me <br />Understanding. <br />Union Pacific Railroad is willing to perform the portion of the repair work described in Exhibit <br />"K °� at its sole c cost and expense, as a condition to receiving its permit to construct the New <br />Track Project.
