Zamo Community DetLo ent Director SUBJECT: Approval and Authorization to Execute the Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Colton and Union Pacific Railroad DATE: March 11, 1998 BACKGROUND: As Council may recallat the November 18, 1997 meeting, Council considered and approved , an appeal submitted by Union Pacific Railroad, overturning a previous Planning Commission decision to deny the vacation of the intersection of Sixth and K Streets. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The City has requested that certain grade crossing repair and removal work be accomplished on the Southern Pacific San Bernardino and Riverside branches within the jurisdictional s more p boundaries of the City of Colton, as part of the overall New Track Project. Union Pacific Railroad is willing to perform the portion of the repair work described in Exhibit "K °� at its sole c cost and expense, as a condition to receiving its permit to construct the New Track Project.
