Hutton, Public Works Director , <br />-3ECEIVED <br />APR 2 11998 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />CITY MANAGER <br />SUBJECT: LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE DISTRICT AND MAINTENACE <br />DISTRICT CONTRACTOR <br />I DATE: April 21, 1998 <br />Please find attached information regarding: 1) the City Landscape District <br />Annual Assessment Report, overview of the L. L. M. D., and proposed schedule <br />for the annual public hearing process; and 2) the agenda report presented for <br />selecting R.P. Landscape as the maintenance district contractor and excerpts for <br />that contract regarding the means for terminating the contract. <br />If it is the desire of the City to terminate the existing contract services, may I <br />suggest that staff would be allowed first to confer with the City Attorney to avoid <br />any potential claims by the contractor and present the City's alternatives to <br />whether they choose to: A) re -contract out the service and if we could draw from <br />the existing bid list or we must go back out to bid to select a new contractor; or <br />B) if the City would entertain a proposal to maintain the district maintenance in <br />house. <br />I hope this information is helpful in providing staff direction with the desired <br />alternative. <br />/j ch <br />attachments <br />cc: City Manager Garcia <br />Item # 3 <br />
