1401 Veterans Way
Colton, CA 92324
(909) 825-2985
AMERICAN LEGION, COLTON POST 155
April 29, 1998
Dear Mayor and Council Members,
I wish to request the use of the Hermosa Memorial Gardens
Cemetery to assemble our citizens like the rest of our nation
to observe Memorial Day, on Monday May 25, 1998.
Our program will be just like in the past. There will be a
continental breakfast from 8:30 a.m. till 9:00 a.m. in the
main building. The ceremony would start at 9:00 a.m..
and last about an hour.
The American Legion will set up all the chairs for everyone
including the Colton Middle School Band. We will also place
the flags along the drive. We will remove everything after
the ceremony as well.
We need the American Flag and P.O.W./M.I.A. Flag to raise at
the opening of the ceremony. We also need electricity for
our public address system which we will provide. We will need
access to the cemetery at 7:30 a.m, to set up. We will need
access to the main building for the continental breakfast and
for the use of the restrooms. I also request that any costs
be waived by you, the Mayor and council, as well.
If my request is put to a motion and moved to adopt, I want
to invite all the citizens of Colton who will be in town that
weekend to attend the observance to honor those heroic dead
who gave their lives in the service of our country.
Respectfully,
Steven G. Emery
Post Commander Post 155
Item # 12
