Garcia, City Manag$� ili�'/ <br />FROM: Carolyn Jones, Child Care Manager <br />SUBJECT: Ratification Of Employee Appointments To The Part -Time <br />Positions For Three Community ChildCare Teachers <br />DATE: April 28,1998 <br />BACKGROUND: There are three (3) vacant Child Care Teacher positions in the Neighborhood <br />Services Department. Attached is the job description for the classification; the salary is based on an <br />hourly rate of $10.00 <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position was conducted and an eligibility list <br />established. The candidate being referred for Council ratification meets the education and experience <br />requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL. IMPACT: The funding for this approved grant funded position for fiscal year 1997-98 <br />has a budget account no. 206-7200-7202-1040-0000-000 <br />MISSION CRITICAL: This position is required to maintain effective operations in the Child Care <br />Division. As recipients of funds from the State of California Department of Education, we are required <br />to adhere to regulations regarding staffing of childcare sites. The law states that each licensed site must <br />have sufficient qualified staff to maintain adequate adult / child ratios. This ratification will fulfill this <br />licensing requirement. <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: May 13, 1998. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that Council approve ratification of employee <br />appointments to the part-time positions for three Community Childcare Teachers. <br />Item # 15 <br />
