CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 6, 1998 TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manage k_/ FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director . : �'•1 �� ` Carolyn Jones, Childcare Manager SUBJECT: Request for recruitment and ratification of employee appointments to the part-time positions of Community ChildCare Teacher's Helpers in the Child Care Division for fiscal year 98/99 DATE: September 28, 1998 BACKGROUND: There are three (3) vacant Child Care Teacher's Helper positions in the Human Resource Department. Attached is the job description for the classification; the salary is based on an hourly rate of $5.50 DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position is classified as "on-going". Recruitments are conducted and eligibility lists established, as needed throughout the year. The rate of employee turnover is higher than those of full-time positions. The candidates chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability for this approved grant funded position in the fiscal year 1998-99 budget funded as follows: Account No. 206-7200-7202-1040-0000-000. EXPECTED FILL DATE: As vacancies occur. CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: In order to remain in compliance with Community Care Licensing, we must maintain adequate adult to child ratios. Filling these vacancies will ensure our compliance with State Licensing. RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of part- time Community Childcare Teacher's Helper as vacancies occur, not to exceed the positions and salaries approved in the approved fiscal budget.
