CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 6. 1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manage <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Directo,C�\) (�-\ <br />Carolyn Jones, Childcare Manager <br />SUBJECT: Request for recruitment and ratification of employee appointments to! <br />the part-time positions of Community ChildCare Teacher in the <br />Child Care Division for fiscal year 98/99 <br />DATE: September 28, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: There are three (3) vacant Child Care Teacher positions in the Human <br />Resource Department. Attached is the job description for the classification; the salary is based <br />on an hourly rate of $10.00 <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Recruitment for said position is classified as "on-going". <br />Recruitments are conducted and eligibility lists established, as needed throughout the year. The <br />rate of employee turnover is higher than those of full-time positions. The candidates chosen will <br />meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability for this approved grant funded position in the <br />fiscal year 1998-99 budget funded as follows: Account No. 206-7200-7202-1040-0000-000. <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: As vacancies occur. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: In order to remain in compliance with Community Care <br />Licensing, we must maintain adequate adult to child ratios. Filling these vacancies will ensure <br />our compliance with State Licensing. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of part- <br />time Community Childcare Teacher as vacancies occur, not to exceed the positions and salaries <br />approved in the approved fiscal budget. <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />Prepared by: Carolyn Jones <br />Item # 15 <br />
