CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of September 15, 1998 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Manag <br />FROM: Patrick 60rowe , Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Award Contract to Purchase and Install Computer LAN System for the <br />Police Department <br />DATE: September 8, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: At the Council Meeting of July 1, 1997, the City Council approved the <br />expenditure of funds received from the Bureau of Justice, U.S. Department of Justice Local Law <br />Enforcement Block Grant program for the purchase of a network system for the Police <br />Department. On August 11, 1998, the Purchasing Department solicited requests for proposals to <br />furnish and install computer equipment for the Police Department. Proposals were solicited from <br />seven local firms. The scope of the services requested were the providing of a file server, 11 <br />work stations, software and installation and configuration of the system. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Five proposals were received and evaluated by Information Systems <br />Coordinator Sitt Siphomsay, Police Information Systems Coordinator Vicki deJong and Police <br />Lieutenant Frank Sullivan. The proposals were evaluated on the firms' references, experience <br />with this type of network installation, as well as responsiveness to warranty and service work and <br />the price quote for their services. The lowest responsible vendor's proposal was received from <br />Inland Computer Systems. <br />ALTERNATIVES: None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: City Council approved the expenditure of these grant funds under <br />Local Law Enforcement Block Grant program number 16.592 in July, 1997, account #100-6070- <br />6088-4900. <br />Patrick G. owe, Chief of Police <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: None. <br />network/rw Item # 8 <br />
