CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 15, 1998 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYORCITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Mana <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director <br />SUBJECT: Ratification of Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of <br />Colton and SBPEA, General and Management/Confidential Units <br />DATE: September 9, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: The memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the General and <br />Management/Confidential Units expired on June 30, 1997. Representatives of the City and SBPEA <br />have been negotiating for a successor MOU over the last several months. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Representatives of the City and SBPEA have reached a tentative <br />agreement on compensation issues with a term to June 30, 2001. This successor MOU provides for <br />payment of the PERS increase for the 2% @ 55 full and modified formula, implementation of the <br />compensation study that was completed late in December, 1997, over the next three years, and <br />modifying some work schedules to provide some City services on Fridays for the first time. Attached <br />is the MOU implementing these changes; this language will be incorporated into a comprehensive <br />MOU. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the agreement is $134,252 for the General Unit and <br />$74,070 for the Management/Confidential Unit. <br />RECOMMENDATION: The City Council ratify the attached MOU with the General and <br />Management/Confidential Units and authorize staff to sign the comprehensive MOU on behalf of the <br />City and adopt the salary resolutions necessary to adopt the salary increases. <br />Jsg.agmdaSBPEA.MOU.dm <br />Item # 17 <br />
