CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR CITY COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 20,1999 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manager <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director, <br />SUBJECT: Approval of a Salary Resolution and the Memorandum of Understanding <br />(MOU) Between the City of Colton and the Electric Unit <br />DATE: April 12, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Electric Unit expired on <br />June 30, 1998. Representatives of the City and the Electric Unit have been negotiating for a <br />successor MOU over the last several months. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Representatives of the City and the Electric Unit have reached an <br />agreement with a term to June 30, 2000. The successor MOU is Exhibit "A" and incorporates the <br />recommendations received from the arbitrator pertaining to the compensation study. The changes <br />within the agreement will be incorporated into a subsequent comprehensive MOU. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The cost of the agreements is estimated for the first year at $28,199 and <br />the second year is $65,480. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached salary <br />resolution and the agreement with the IBEW (the Electric Unit) and authorize staff to sign the <br />comprehensive MOU on behalf of the City. <br />PREPARED BY: Vicki Porter <br />Attachment: Exhibit A (IBEW) <br />Compensation Study Results <br />Resolution (1) <br />Item # 4 <br />
