AMENDED IN ASSEMBLY APRIL 7, 1999 <br />CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE -1999-2000 REGULAR SESSION <br />ASSEMBLY BILL No. 997 <br />Introduced by Assembly Member Campbell <br />(Coauthors: Assembly Members Florez and Nakano) <br />(Coauthor: Senator Karnette) <br />February 25, 1999 <br />An act to amend Sections 1501, ' `0 .�3, 1502.4, 1509.51 <br />1520, 15294, and 12"5 and 1520.1 of the Health and Safety <br />Code, relating to care facilities. <br />LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST <br />AB 997, as ampnded, Campbell. Community care <br />facilities: operations. <br />Existing law, the California Community Care Facilities Act, <br />provides for the licensure and regulation of community, care <br />facilities by the State Department of Social Services. Existing <br />law makes a violation of the act, or the willful or repeated <br />violation of rules or regulations adopted under the act, a <br />misdemeanor. <br />This bill would declare the intent of the Legislature to <br />develop policies and programs designed to ensure that <br />facilities providing community care are operated in a manner <br />that preserves the health, and safety <br />of the residents of the neighborhoods and communities in <br />which they are located. _ <br />vides <br />98 <br />
