CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR4� <br />SUBJECT: REQUEST RATIFICATION OF AND RECRUITMENT FOR EMPLOYEE <br />APPOINTMENT IN THE FULL-TIME POSITION OF CUSTOMER SERVICE <br />REPRESENTATIVE IN THE UTILITY DEPARTMENT ELECTRIC DIVISION <br />DATE: July 7, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There is one (1) vacant Customer Service Representative position in the Utility Department due <br />to funding of an additional position in the FY 1999-2000 budget. Attached is the job description <br />of the classification; the salary range is $1,721 to $2,093 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Recruitment for this position will be conducted and an eligibility list established upon Council's <br />approval. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience requirements as <br />specified in the job description. The motivation for this staff addition is to respond to the <br />Council's and the Electric Utility's interest in enhanced customer service through reducing <br />customer wait times, expanding service hours, enabling rotation of personnel to training <br />programs, and providing additional customer service capacity should the Council choose to <br />create an energy choice environment. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding availability for this position is contained in the FYI 999-2000 Electric Utility budget as <br />follows: Account No. 520-8000-8007-1010-0920 (Salary) and Account No. <br />520-8000-8007-1100-0926 (Salary -related Benefits). <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: <br />August 23, 1999. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />This position is highly responsible for direct customer contact. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the ratification of and recruitment for the employee <br />appointment in the full-time position of Customer Service Representative in the Utility <br />Department Electric Division. <br />Report Prepared By: Timothy C.
