You may pay your registration fee by check, Visa or MasterCard. No purchase orders, American Express or Discover cards, please. If paying by credit card, you may register by faxing 916/658-8220. Advance registrants unable to attend can send a substitute, or receive a refund of the registration fee, less a $35 processing charge, by writing the League of California Cities, Conference Registration Office, Box 1519, Lafayette, CA 94549; fax 925/283-7833. Requests for refunds must be received by Friday, July 23, 1999. Hotel Reservations Hotel reservations are handled by the Monterey Peninsula Housing Bureau, operated by the Monterey Visitors and Convention Bureau. Reservation requests are assigned according to your preference on a first come, first served basis. If accommodations are not available at your first choice hotel, the reservation will be placed at the next available participating hotel. If the League rate has sold out before the cut-off date, the next available rate will apply. Reservations received after the cut- off date of Wednesday, June 30, 1999, will be accommodated on a rate and space availability basis only. We urge you to make your reservations early. Please use the hotel reservation form when making reservations. Telephone reservations will not be accepted. Reservations sent by fax will be accepted if they have the appropriate credit card information. A deposit or credit card guarantee must accompany each reservation and cover at least one night's room cost. Checks should be made payable to Monterey Peninsula Housing Bureau. The checks are endorsed over to the assigned hotel. Refunds for cancellations will be issued directly from the appropriate hotel in compliance with hotel refund policies. You may fax your reservation to 831/648-5373. If you choose to fax your reservation, please do not mail a duplicate copy, which will result in a duplicate reservation. The Housing Bureau will mail acknowledgments for all reservations received and the hotels will follow with a confirmation on rate, type of room, etc. The Bureau will not fax acknowledgments, or return calls to confirm receipt of reservations. The Bureau may be contacted at 831/648-5355 if you have not received an acknowledgment within ten working days from the time a reservation was faxed or mailed. Check-in time is 3 p.m., check-out time is noon. Please note that hotel rates do not include the ten percent city hotel tax. Hotels do not provide airport shuttle service; a taxi costs approximately $8 one- way from the Monterey airport.
